Cowes Week Ltd appoints Catalyst for key commercial role

Cowes Week Ltd, promoters of the world famous annual Cowes Week Regatta has selected Catalyst as its exclusive commercial rights agency to lead the search for a new title sponsor partner from 2017.

Speaking of the appointment, Phil Hagen, the new Regatta Director at Cowes Week Ltd said; “Having enjoyed working with Aberdeen Asset Management for the last five years as title sponsor of Cowes Week, we are now seeking a new sponsor to help us develop and evolve the Regatta. Our focus is on maintaining the strong traditions and history of the event, while making sure it is a compelling and relevant proposition in 2017. We are therefore delighted to be working with Catalyst to ensure that we maximise Cowes Week’s future potential as a major sporting and leisure lifestyle brand”.

Joe Bruce, one of Catalyst’s founding partners commented; “We believe that there is significant opportunity for Cowes Week and for its future commercial sponsor partners. The heritage and profile that the Regatta has as part of the UK’s summer social and sporting season is a fantastic base from which to build a compelling commercial and consumer engagement proposition”.

About Cowes Week:
Cowes Week is one of the UK's longest running sporting events, having first taken place in 1826. The aspirational and inclusive sailing regatta is the largest of its kind in the world, attracting between 800 and 1,000 yachts in up to 40 classes. Around 8,000 competitors race during the week ranging from weekend sailors to World Champions and Olympic medallists.

The lively apres-sail atmosphere at Cowes Week means there are plenty of social and exciting onshore activities for sailors and the thousands of spectators who visit Cowes each year. The next edition of the regatta takes place from 6-13 August 2016 and entries are now open online.

The event is supported by the following sponsors who also help to make the event a success: Nyetimber, Chatham Marine, MUSTO, Isle of Wight Council, Sunsaill, Fever-Tree and Volvo Car UK. The Official event charity is UKSA, supporting youth sailing opportunities.
